Wedding Dresses – Here We Have A Wedding Gown Creator’s Perspective

Since I was a child, I loved bridal gowns. I used to sneak into my mom’s closet to look at her wedding dress when she was not home. She had no trouble with showing it to me, however if she had been aware of how many hours I spent basically drooling over it, she most likely would have freaked out a little bit. I had pretty immature tastes back then – expected because I was a child. I adored bridal gowns because they looked so fluffy and soft. They were like cakes, and they made whoever wore them look partway between a princess and a pastry. I could not get enough.

Back when I was purchasing discount bridal gowns at secondhand shops and wearing them to school with assorted punk rock modifications to shock my teachers, I never dreamed that one day I would be a bridal designer. You see, as much as I loved wedding gowns, I was not especially enamored of weddings. I was quite independent, and I could not imagine spending my entire life with one boy, raising children, and living in a tedious suburban corner of the world like my folks did. I wanted adventure and action. I wanted to be a park ranger or a mountain climber, or perhaps a pro photographer.

One thing I didn’t want to be was a bride. I’ve never been an individual who was totally into weddings. I was never planning my dream wedding, picking my wedding songs and writing lists of my bridal attendandants since I was 5 years of age. I never heard standard love songs that people use for wedding songs on the radio and immediately exclaimed, “That’s going on my list of wedding songs!”

Nonetheless, in spite of my general lack of enthusiasm for the overall concept of weddings, I was still impressed with bridal fashion. I loved when I got to see outdoor weddings at the community park. We lived by a gorgeous state park complete with the lakes, rivers, and gorgeous rolling hills. There was a small marriage chapel there, and they would frequently rent it out. My boyfriend at the time must have believed I was sending him messages! I made him sit there with me all day, watching the wedding party. Perhaps he thought I had dreams of long-term romance, but such thoughts were furthest from my mind. I was focused on it purely from a fashion perspective.

Now that I’m getting ready for my own wedding, I’m struck by how different the experience is from that of helping other people get ready for their big day. Creating wedding gowns is easy. Although there are vintage designs, contemporary designs, classic designs, and many other variations, it does not amount to all that much variety. There are only a couple of things to keep track of, and if you love the garments it’s easy. Choosing one for yourself, however, is another matter. It’s most likely the hardest part is getting married.
